Healdsburg’s Wine Road Barrel Tasting takes place every year in March- will you be joining us for the next one? I love this event because it offers visitors the opportunity to taste wines from over 200 wineries in the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys which is such a great deal! The event is held over three days, from March 3rd to March 5th, 2023, and is a great opportunity for wine lovers new and old, to sample new wines, meet winemakers, learn more about the winemaking process and have such a great weekend visiting Sonoma County.
The event is organized by Wine Road, a non-profit organization that promotes the wineries of the Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys. Visitors can purchase a Barrel Tasting passport for $85-$95, which gives them access to ALL participating wineries over the three days of the event— is that a great deal or what?! The passport includes a commemorative wine glass (which is a fun momento to take home) and a map of the wineries.
One of my fave highlights of the Barrel Tasting event is the opportunity to taste wine straight from the barrel. This is such a unique experience as the wine has not yet been bottled, and visitors can get a glimpse of how the wine will taste when it is finally released. Additionally, many wineries offer food and live music to make it even more fun.
And let’s just talk about Healdsburg for a moment. If you haven’t been, it’s a must! Wine Road Barrel weekend or not, a just because visit to Healdsburg needs to be on the top of your list. It’s the cutest, most charming town right in the heart of Sonoma County’s wine country, and it is the perfect day trip for a wine-filled afternoon. In addition to the Barrel Tasting event, there are many other things to do in Healdsburg such as visiting local boutiques, art galleries, and foodie restaurants that will have you savoring every bite. Visitors can also take a stroll through the town square, which features a beautiful fountain (which you’ll see many local children playing in and around) and a variety of benches and tables for enjoying the sunshine or a gourmet picnic.
So if you haven’t been to Wine Road Barrel Tasting or experienced the town of Healdsburg, CA, I highly encourage you to book your stay at Wine Country Soulcation and enjoy a weekend filled with amazing wine and good company.
