Spring is just around the corner, and that means it’s time for Major League Baseball teams to gather in the warm, sunny state of Arizona for spring training. For baseball fans, this is a chance to see their favorite teams and players up close and in action, long before the regular season begins.

Located in the heart of the Sonoran Desert, Phoenix, Arizona is a prime destination for spring training. The city is home to 10 MLB teams, each of which sets up shop in one of the many ballparks located throughout the greater Phoenix area. From late February to the end of March, these ballparks come to life as teams take to the field for pre-season games and practices.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan or just looking for a fun, sun-soaked day at the park, spring training in Phoenix offers something for everyone. Here’s what you need to know before you go:

  1. Know the Teams: 10 Major League Baseball teams call Phoenix home for spring training. These teams include the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Cleveland Indians, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners. Each team has its own home park, so be sure to check out the schedule to see which teams will be playing when you’re in town.

  2. Find the Right Park: Each of the 10 teams in Phoenix plays at a different park, so it’s important to know which one you want to visit. Some of the most popular parks include Salt River Fields (Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies), Camelback Ranch (Chicago White Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers), and Peoria Sports Complex (San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners). Check the schedules for each park to see which teams will be playing when you visit.

  3. Find the Right Place to Stay: There are a ton of great hotel and vacation home options in Phoenix so make sure you choose one that’s central to the most parks. Lucky for us, our Airbnb, Desert Soulcation, is located within 20 miles of American Family Fields, Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club, Salt River Fields at Talking Stick, Chase Field and Peoria Sports Complex.

  4. Buy Tickets: Spring training games in Phoenix are popular, so it’s important to get your tickets ahead of time. You can buy tickets online through each team’s website or through a ticket broker. Prices can vary, so be sure to compare prices and find the best deal.

  5. Know What to Expect: Unlike regular season games, spring training games are more relaxed and informal. This is a great opportunity to see your favorite players up close and to get a feel for the team before the regular season starts. However, keep in mind that spring training is also a time for teams to try out new players, so don’t expect to see all of your favorite starters playing every game.

  6. Explore Phoenix: In addition to the ballparks, Phoenix has plenty to offer visitors. Whether you’re a foodie, a nature lover, or a history buff, there’s something for everyone in this vibrant city. Check out the Desert Botanical Garden, the Heard Museum, or the Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park to learn more about the history and culture of the Southwest.

Spring training in Phoenix, Arizona is a must-visit for any baseball fan. With warm weather, top-notch ballparks, and a chance to see your favorite teams and players up close, it’s the perfect way to get ready for the start of the regular season. So pack your sunscreen, grab your tickets, and head to the desert for a fun-filled day of America’s favorite pastime.
